We took a trip down south for a friend's wedding. It was many years in the making, so we were happy to see him make such an excellent match. We also saw some old friends and made some new ones as well. It was a fun, albeit SHORT trip. Rather than send Kawi to a friend's house for the night, we rigged an iPod up with lots of songs on it, and let the sun wake him up and put him to sleep. The iPod was still running when we arrived home, so it was nice to see that it worked well. Noise for a cockatiel can be like an aural playground. When visiting the pet store I noticed that when the birds were scared they got really quiet. Sound also provides a sense of safety, and he sings along with the music.
We had a lovely time together, including a cozy jacuzzi cuddle, refreshing fitness workouts in the morning, and a healthy breakfast. The room was splendid, spotless, and comfortable. Work will come soon enough tomorrow, but it was certainly nice to get a short break.

Upward and Onward
This weekend is the weekend I always look forward to twice a year. I relax at home and listen to the Prophet and Twelve Apostles say the very words I need to hear. It is the most soul-refreshing time of year. After spending a week sick at home, I am a little weary. C took me out to eat at Sweet Tomatoes tonight, and I enjoyed the wonderful clam chowder and sweet broccoli salad. It was a nice break from the soup and smoothy diet I have enjoyed this past week with a sore throat. I didn't think it was possible to have a sore throat for eight days straight, but I am here to tell you it is possible. Thank goodness for narc cough syrup and antibiotics.
Well, C is waiting for me to finish so we can snuggle in to watch a movie . . .that is, if I can get him to put our little chipper bird to bed. Kawi is singing to C's thumb at the moment. Very entertaining.
