The Magical Colorful World of Mom

There is a magical room in which my mother lives....Full of floating fishes...
And wonderful things.
In every corner you will find...
Something magical...
Colorful...
And new.
The entire ceiling...
Is full of magic and wonder.
And here and there you will find...
Examples of her work...
Mixed among the evidence...
Of her efforts...
To share that magic with others.
For a woman so full of color,
I would never dream of giving her a gift that was anything less than colorful!
And somehow, there is magic...

Among the unknown...
And the seemingly ordinary things.

Gifts from former students find a home on her desk.
And even the purses of my mom and sister match their surroundings.
Gourds take their places...
Along with bright and cheerful miscellany,
And the strangest creatures find a home here among the music collection...
...while fish carelessly swim in every direction.
Tools of the craft...
Find their home among rows of books,
While even the tissue box claims its part among art.
Plants living, and paper fill the sill
While glass candies fill bowls just as bright.

It seems that even the most unusual things...
feel right at home in this place.
A paint covered apron, a piece of art
Alongside an endless supply of brushes,
Paint covered easels,
And canvas boards covered in paint.
Makeshift palettes whisper of a million oil colors mixed,
To create art that is hidden in almost every nook and cranny.
Asian odds and ends...
Mingle comfortably beside works of art...
As if there was no barrier between them.

Even the fridge finds harmonious pleasantries...
Being exchanged between bottles of paint and capri suns.

You would think that the freezer would be bland and white,
but somehow it, too, has failed to escape,
The mystical charms of color.
While food cheerfully awaits tiny hands on shelves filled with popcorn and paint.

Yesterday we created something new...
As we tested out the YuDo...
And silk screened bright aprons soon to find their empty canvases splattered in paint.
